Imagine this for a moment…

You’re on the hunt for a new place to call home, you’ve spent the last couple of weeks running around during your lunch break and knocking off early to be the first to check out the new rentals you saw online. You’re booking online for inspections, sometimes you’re the only one turning up, no agent in sight. You call to confirm you’ve got the right time, they tell you it was cancelled because there wasn’t enough interest for that inspection time.

“Morning Kerrie, I’d like to book in and see your Hunter Street apartment tomorrow”

Kerrie “Goodmorning, you actually don’t need to book in, we’ll be there ready to meet you. We schedule our open homes for both midday and late afternoons, which allows you to either pop in during your lunch break or after work.”

“Oh, so I don’t need to book?”

Kerrie “That’s right, there’s no need to book in.”

“But how do I know that you’re going to turn up?”

Kerrie “When we advertise our inspections, we turn up at those times. No need to book, we’ll be there ready to welcome you in.”

“But everyone else makes you book in.”

Kerrie “That’s right, we’re not like everyone else, we’re Villager.”

Making a house a home with Courtney

Courtney’s our Senior Property Manager who works closely alongside our Landlords and Tenants to provide a service which is rather unheard of in the Property Management industry.

Courtney takes a very consultative approach in providing the greatest service for all properties she manages, current listing of 18 Glossop Street is a prime example.

 

The Landlords bought the property over to Villager from another agency whilst it was still tenanted. On Courtney’s first inspection, she could see this little charmer had an abundance of potential. She did, however, note a few areas that were starting to deteriorate, which is to be expected with a house of its age.

“Whilst I know no one likes spending when things aren’t broken the owners understood the value of freshening up the interior. There would indeed be a financial return but the biggest value comes from helping obtain a tenant who would easily fall in love with the property and call it their own.”

 

 

Once the opportunity arose, Courtney set about organising all the trades. She met them on site to gather quotes for painting, flooring and carpet installers.

“We have a great relationship with our trades, which assist us in ensuring a quick turnaround, not only of quoting but in the commencement of work. Our painter, Andrew from ASC Painting, rescheduled his workload to accommodate us. Thanks Andrew!”

From meeting the trades to quote, through to having the property up and ready for inspection, took 4 weeks.

This week I caught up with my hairdresser over in Kahibah’s neck of the woods, Impressions Hair and Beauty. I see the guys quite regularly (every three weeks to cover my greys, but don’t tell anyone). They’ve always done a really good job and I love the community feel they’ve created in their salon.

Olivia: My sister, Nadia, has owned this salon for about 7 years.

What inspired you to get into hairdressing

When I left school I wanted to follow in my sister’s footsteps and so I went and did an apprenticeship. Now I get to work alongside my sister every day, it’s pretty awesome.

Why Kahibah

We’re from Whitebridge, and we’ve lived here for at least 20 years. It’s close to home and we love this area. It’s a really great locality, we’ve got easy access to parking and reasonably priced and we’re all really friendly.

 

What do you bring to your local community 

We bring new hair dos.

There are a few salons close by but it hasn’t really affected us, we’ve got our regular clients that keep on keeping on. now we’re introducing barbering into the salon as well. I’ll be heading that, which I’m pretty excited about. We’ve got a barber chair ready to go, we just need to find a spot in the salon for it.

What’s the kindest thing someone has done for you since you’ve been here 

I think we’ve created something unique that our clients feel really appreciated and a part of our little community. Sometimes our clients bring in little goodies for us at Christmas or they make homemade yummy things and bring them along to share. We just love it!

We’re known for being a Schwarzkopf salon but we’ve recently introduced Eleven, which is an Australian owned business and we love it plus our clients are really enjoying it too.

This week I chatted with my local butchers. The butcher has always had a great reputation in the area. It’s been there for such a long time. You can see that the guys pride themselves on providing quality meat and service. They are always smiling and friendly, and make you feel very welcome whenever you stop by.

How long have you been at this location

Pat: The butcher shop has been here forever and a day. Jodi took over from Laurie mid last year. It was a well-established butchery in the area, which our locals love to support.

What inspired you to become a butcher

Pat: My Aunty was a butcher and owned a shop over at Toronto.
Goran: I loved going hunting when I was a kid. We used to hunt all over New South Wales some of our favourite spots were Wee Waa, Moree, and Merriwa.


What do you bring to your local community

Not only do we supply meat that’s delicious and full of flavour, we also offer a friendly face to everyone that walks through that door.
