What Ben loves about a career in real estate

One of the reasons Ben loves his job so much is because Ben loves people, and especially enjoys the fact that he has built good friendships with so many of his clients.

They say that if you love your job it never feels like work.

Ben loves his role at Villager Property and this resonates in his positive personality. His attitude helps people around him feel positive, too.

One of the reasons Ben loves his job so much is because Ben loves people, and especially enjoys the fact that he has built good friendships with so many of his clients.

Just last night, Ben attended the 90th birthday of a client turned long term friend, Len.

After a close working relationship with one family to sell their mothers home and move Gwen into a nursing home, Ben became good friends with Gwen – visiting her regularly with wife Alissa and daughters in tow.

Ben recently sold a house for an elderly lady who was moving closer to family in Queensland. She didn’t drive, and just happened to mention that she had to get to the airport one day to go to Qld.  Ben being Ben, he said happily: ‘I can take you to the airport’. And that’s how Ben came to be picking up a client at 4am for a 6am flight

A recent sale of home in Wallsend saw Ben and the client, Kath, work very hard to help get it ready for sale. Together, they set about the task of ‘de-cluttering’. Things disappeared into the skip, slowly at first, but in the end it became an hilarious game and they became friends. Ben and Kath still keep in touch to verbally spar with each other.

He even met his wife, Alissa, through his work. They worked in the same building and invariably met in the lift. Ben began calling Alissa ‘elevator girl’, and eventually asked her on a date. The rest is history.

The point is that Ben always displays absolute respect towards clients and colleagues.

He is just one of those great people who cares about everyone’s wellbeing.

A dash of fun…

Villager Property is being built up as an agency with a difference.

Ben is the visionary at Villager Property.

But his vision isn’t really what you might expect.

Villager Property is being built up as an agency with a difference.

Ben and his fellow agents have the skills to bring a fresh approach to property and marketing.

They all work to make the clients journey smooth and supported.

One that puts the wellbeing of the client first. The agents listen, discuss, and get to know the clients’ needs and preferences. They do this in a light-hearted, non-judgemental and supportive way that gains clients’ trust and confidence. Villager works WITH  the clients, not for them.

Ben himself is always empathetic with clients, and not just in words.

He is the definition of going beyond the call of duty, working extraordinarily hard to fulfil the needs of the client.

Then calls it fun!

In fact, he makes it fun!

When Ben makes contact, and he does so very often, his first question is always regarding the welfare of the client. He genuinely cares. And he is always available to answer those questions that wouldn’t be asked of the common garden variety agent. Nothing is too small or too silly. Ben will put your mind at rest.

Ben’s wonderful team at Villager Property really do work together to facilitate your journey through the property market. Each of them is an expert at cooperation, as well as in their own field.

Villager Property IS different.

And everything is done with that dash of fun.

The Power of History.

it seems it was a natural progression for her to find her niche as a real estate agent….

Ally has huge pride in her family history.

She is descended from some well-known Novocastrian luminaries and she carries forward their light in her approach to her job and to her life.

ally blog 2-3

Ally loved growing up in New Lambton in the Stronarch family , with Snell and Suters among family friends.

ally blog 2-4

Not surprisingly, most were involved in some aspect of the property industry.

ally blog 2-7.jpg

Is it any wonder that Ally grew up influenced by this history? She was surrounded by architects and builders.  Not just any architects or builders. People who excelled in expertise. Who designed and built many of the most famous Newcastle edifices. Who changed approaches to design and methods that were to have a lasting impact on Newcastle, its appearance, and its history.

It is as if real estate lay dormant within Ally while she worked in industries that gave her exceptional people skills.

It must be wonderful passing Newcastle Police Station, the Civic Theatre, and every Newcastle movie theatre knowing you have such a close connection to their creators.

Ally is so good at what she does that it seems it was a natural progression for her to find her niche as a real estate agent.

We and our clients are so lucky to have Ally at Villager Property!

All are welcome here… Tighes Hill Charm

Blog images_-46

A weathered sign rests in the sun.

All are welcome here.

Tracey tells me of how the sign once sat proudly attached to the front of her grandmothers home. Her grandmother would welcome her inside. A warm, loving welcome – and tell her that at Allunga, all are welcome here.

This inclusive and peaceful feeling is one that is carried out throughout this home, inside and out – and even spreading across the neighbourhood.

The style that glows in this home is not contrived for the viewers benefit. Although it it styled – it is all completely organic and authentic.

A bedroom that is a nod to a grandmothers style and a little girls wish for a beautiful space, a reupholstered chair on which a great grandfather used to sit daily. And family shells, hanging creatively in macrame, remnants of childhoods spent playing on the NSW south coast.

A quiet reflection

The rear lane offers garage access, so as I headed around to photograph this I was amazed to see a laneway lined with bananas, mangoes, veggie plots and gardeners.

A family tending to their worm farm spoke to me and we chatted about the regular get togethers held in the neighbourhood, the sharing vibe that extends not only Bryant Street but into the wider community.
I was then invited next door and shown how to harvest Wasabi.

Back at the property, the size of the backyard impressed me with a huge entertaining deck that I could see myself wanting to long-lunch under all weekend…

After peacefully soaking up some vitamin D and reading by the hot tub, of course.

A backyard studio offers quiet retreat as an office/ studio/ creative lair – Its fully self contained with a kitchenette and full bathroom. Yes please!

And a garden full of lush herbs beckons you to pluck them fresh …

make some culinary magic in the gorgeous new kitchen.

The way the new kitchen has been designed to blend in with the original features – like this oh-so-gorgeous glass door and cute-as-apple-pie kitchen fireplace.

Serve up and enjoy, surrounded by light loving louvres,
and a pink hued art deco mirror.

Ally also has great pride in her family history, and in being a Novocastrian. A childhood full of freedom and opportunities allowed her to explore and appreciate this city, this village. And now she helps this sense of belonging to become part of the lives of others.

Ally’s philosophy says it all:

‘My philosophy in life, not only in Real Estate is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” –  always have a smile, always listen more than you speak, be genuine, tell it like it is, laugh a lot – life is great !!!!’

Villager Property: But why Villager?

pre pamp maybes_-8Why ‘villager’?  Newcastle is a city.

And a villager is someone who lives in a village.

Is this some sort of virtual village?

Let’s see. What is a village?

A small settlement. A collection of houses and infrastructure.

Yes. But that is a simplistic answer.

What else is a village?

The residents, the people of the village, are what a village is all about.

The village provides homes rather than houses for these residents.

It also provides many of the needs of the villagers.

carrington plant house_Shops to buy necessities; banks and businesses to provide financial services; medical services to provide health care; schools to provide education; sporting fields and clubs to enable physical development; churches for the spiritual needs of the villagers; roads, footpaths, carparks, etc, to facilitate interaction of all these activities; entertainment venues to allow an element of fun in village life.

And there is the clue: interaction.

It is the interaction between the villagers that makes a village.

They develop work relationships, social networks, communication patterns.

The village facilitates the interaction of villagers in many, many modes.

This is community.

A community builds a network of interactions that provide support and camaraderie for the villagers.

So it is with Villager Property. The Villagers go beyond the basic traditional activities of real estate agents.

They provide support for clients beyond the norm, and according to the individual needs of each client.

They strive to build two-way understanding and trust between agent and client.

All with a dash of fun.
